Serious Energy Raises $3 Million in Venture Capital

Sunnyvale, Calif. – Serious Energy, a provider of energy efficiency technology for buildings, has raised $3 million in venture capital, according to a new filing by the company with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Founded in 2002, Serious Energy has installed systems in about 70,000 buildings and homes to date. The company recently announced a building efficiency upgrade service at zero upfront cost for building owners and tenants.

The company recently acquired Agilewaves, another privately held, building energy management technology company, for an undisclosed price. Agilewaves offers energy monitoring and management systems that help facility managers and building owners reduce energy costs.

In its new SEC filing, Serious Energy indicated it plans to raise a total of $34 million in its current round of fundraising.

Serious Energy’s list of investors includes VantagePoint Partners, New Enterprise Associates, EnerTech Capital, Foundation Capital, Mesirow Financial, Rustic Canyon, Navitas Capital, Cheyenne Partners, Staenberg Ventures, and Saints Capital.

Serious Energy Acquires Agilewaves, Combining Two Building Efficiency Tech Firms

Sunnyvale, Calif. – Serious Energy, a provider of energy efficiency technology for buildings, announced it has acquired Agilewaves, a building energy management technology company.

Terms between the two privately held firms were not disclosed.

Founded in 2006 and based in Menlo Park, Calif., Agilewaves offers energy monitoring and management systems that help facility managers and building owners reduce energy costs.

Serious Energy was founded in 2002 and has installed systems in about 70,000 buildings and homes. The company recently announced a building efficiency upgrade service at zero upfront cost for building owners and tenants.
